Özellikle doğal afetler ve salgın hastalıklar neticesinde iktidarların tedbir adı altında uygulamaya koyduğu kurallar Orwell'in 1984 adlı romanını hatırlatmıştır. Distopyalar topluma dair birer kara gelecek kurgusu oldukları için sosyal bilimlerin ve özellikle sosyolojinin de alanına girmektedir. Bu çalışmada Ütopya, Distopya ve Sosyal Kontrol kavramlarının açıklanması ve çalışma için belirlenen üç distopik eserin, sosyal kontrol olgusu bakımından ele alınması amaçlanmıştır. Bununla birlikte distopik eserlerde kurgulanmış olan gelecek toplumunun, günümüz dünyasında ne kadar gerçekleşmiş olduğu ve gerçekliğini ne kadar koruduğu konuları da yaşanan güncel olaylar ve örnekler ile ele alınmıştır. Çalışma neticesinde, distopyaların yaşamın birçok alanına yayıldığı; toplumsal hayat üzerinde denetimi sağlamak ve geçerliliğini korumak için çeşitli sosyal kontrol ve gözetim uygulamaları kullanıldığı görülmektedir. Geçmişten günümüze özellikle 11 Eylül olayları sonrasında gözetim unsurunun önemi artmış ve iktidarlar bu uygulamayı daha etkin şekilde kullanmaya başlamışlardır. Günümüz dünyasında görülen doğal/yapay felaketler iktidarların uygulayacağı yöntemlere haklılık zemini kazandırmıştır. Böylece günümüz dünyasında da distopyalar paralelinde gelişmeler ve uygulamalar görülmektedir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Distopya, Panoptikon, Sosyal Kontrol, Ütopya.In today's world, natural disasters, epidemics, world war discourses that have increased recently have brought "dystopia" to many people's minds. In particular, the rules put into practice by the governments under the name of precaution as a result of natural disasters and epidemics reminded Orwell's novel 1984. Dystopias are also included in the field of Social Sciences and especially Sociology, as they are the fictions of the future of society. In this study, it is aimed to explain the concepts of Utopia, Dystopia and Social Control and to deal with the three dystopian works determined in terms of social control phenomenon. In addition, the issues of how much the future society, which will be fictionalized in dystopian works, took place in today's world and how much it preserves its reality, are also discussed with current events and examples. As a result of the study, it is seen that various social control and surveillance practices are used to maintain control and validity at these points where dystopias spread to many different points of life. From past to present, especially after the events of September 11, the importance of surveillance has increased and governments have begun to use this practice more effectively. The natural/artificial disasters seen in today's world have given justification to the methods to be applied by the governments. Thus, in today's world, developments and applications are seen in parallel with dystopias.
