In this study, the effects of the external static electric field and high-frequency intense laser field (ILF) on the nonlinear optical properties, such as the relative refractive index changes (RRICs) and the total optical absorption coefficients (TOACs), of a cylindrical quantum dot (CQD) with axial Morse potential are theoretically investigated in detail. The effect of the structure parameters on the optical properties of the system are analysed, optimizing the CQD in terms of RRICs and TOACs. Solutions of the wave equation of the system are carried out by using the effective-mass and parabolic band approximation. The optical properties of the system are probed by using the compact-density-matrix approach. The numerical results show that the optical spectrum of the system shifts to red or blue. Furthermore, these results clearly demonstrated that the optical properties of the system depend on closely both the applied external fields and the structure parameters. As a result, these behaviors in the optical properties of the structure give us a new degree of freedom in the regions of interest for optoelectronic device applications.tr
