The complete mitochondrial genome ofSyrista parreyssii(Spinola,1843) was described. The circulargenome is 18,666bp with an AþT content of 82.60%. It contains 37 genes and a 1921 bp controlregion. The CR-trnI(þ)-trnQ(–)-trnM(þ) cluster is rearranged astrnM(þ)-CR-trnQ(–)-trnI(þ) cluster.Phylogenetic analysis demonstrates that EuropeanSyristaand AsianNeosyristawere not sister groups.Neosyristais a valid genus and should be reestablished. Moreover, a preliminary study based on COIshowed there are at least three validSyristaspecies within the European and Mediterranean regions.Whether the knownSyrista parreyssii(Spinola,1843) is a complex or there are more cryptic speciesneeds further study.
