| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Objectives: We investigated the incidence of secondary middle concha and whether or not it is associated with obstruction in the osteomeatal complex. Patients and Methods: In an effort to evaluate chronic inflammatory pathologies of the nasal cavi-ty and paranasal sinuses, we reviewed computed tomography scans (slice thickness 4 mm) of 660 patients (age range 10 to 70 years). Results: Bilateral secondary nasal middle conchae were documented in 25 patients (3.78%; 14 males, 11 females). In none of the cases was the presence of secondary middle concha associated with osteomeatal complex obstruction. Conclusion: The identification of the secondary nasal middle concha on preoperative computed tomography scans may help to maintain a better orientation during endoscopie surgery of the paranasal sinuses. | en_US |
