The relation between Job satisfaction and emotional intelligence: an investigation about the education supervisors

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı eğitim müfettişlerinin duygusal zekâ ve iş doyumu düzeylerini ve duygusal zeka ve iş doyumu arasındaki ilişkileri incelemektir. Araştırmanın örneklemini dört bölgede çalışan 184 müfettiş oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri “Duygusal Zekâ Ölçeği” ve “Denetmenlerin İş Doyumu Ölçeği” adlı envanterle toplanmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde Mann-Whitney U testi, Kruskal Wallis ve pearason korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre müfettişler, duygusal zekâ düzeylerini pozitif olarak; iş doyumu düzeylerini ise orta ve düşük düzeyde algılamışlardır. Duygusal zekâ ile iş doyumu arasında boyutlara göre değişmekle birlikte düşük ve orta düzeyde bir ilişki saptanmıştır.

The aim of this study is to find out education supervisors’ level of emotional intelligence and job satisfaction and determine the relation between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. The sample of the study consists of 184 supervisors that work in four districts. The data of the research has been collected by the inventory called “Emotional Intelligence Scale” and “supervisors’ Job Satisfaction Scale”. The Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis and r tests have been used for analyzing the data. According to the results of the research, the supervisors’ emotional intelligence perceptions are at a high level and their job satisfaction levels at a moderate and low level. It has been found out that there is a non-significant relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction; but some moderate and some low level correlations have been found with regard to some of the subscales.
