Adölesanlarda internet bağımlılığı prevalansı ile psikopatolojik semptomlar ve obezite arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi
Abstract
Dünyada internet kullanımında giderek artan bir büyüme olmuştur ve günlük yaşamın ayrılmaz bir parçası haline gelmesiyle bu büyümenin devam etmesi beklenmektedir. İnternet, eğitimle ilgili çok büyük faydalar sağlamasına karşın, aşırı kullanımı psikopatolojik semptomlar ve obezite gibi olumsuz sonuçlara yol açabilir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, adölesanlarda internet bağımlılığı prevalansının belirlenmesi ile internet bağımlılığının psikopatolojik semptomlar ve obezite üzerindeki etkisinin saptanmasıdır. Yöntem: Bu araştırma Giresun kentinde üç lisede toplam 1.175 lise öğrencisi üzerinde İnternet Bağımlılığı Testi, Duke Sağlık Profili kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Veriler sosyodemografik bilgileri içeren yapılandırılmış bir anket formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırma kapsamına alınan 1.175 adölesanın, 587'si (%50) erkek ve 588'i (%50) kızdır. Adölesanların yaş ortalaması 15,72 ± 1,14 yıl olarak bulunmuştur. Problemli internet kullanımı (PİK) prevalansı adölesan internet kullanıcıları arasında %7,1 olarak bulundu. Aşırı internet kullanımı olanlarda anksiyete, depresyon ve anksiyete-depresyon puanları yüksek olarak bulunmuştur. Problemli internet kullanımı ile obezite arasında bir ilişki bulunmamıştır. Sonuç: Problemli internet kullanımı acil önem gerektiren önemli bir halk sağlığı sorunu haline gelmektedir. Bu sorunun yayılmasını önlemek için etkili önlemler gereklidir. Problemli internet kullanımının psikopatolojik belirtiler üzerindeki etkilerini önlemek için müdahaleler mümkün olduğu kadar erken yapılmalıdır There has been an explosive growth of internet usage worldwide and this is expected to continue with its use becoming an integral part of everyday life. The internet provides tremendous educational benefits; however, excessive internet use can lead to negative outcomes such as psychopathological symptoms and obesity. The aim of the study was to study association with the prevalence of internet addiction and psychopathological symptoms and obesity in adolescent age group. Methods: A total of 1175 high school students from three high schools in Giresun City were surveyed using Internet Addiction Test, Dukes Health Profile. The Data was collected using a structured questionnaire including sociodemographic characteristics. Results: Of the 1,175 adolescents who took part in the study, 588 (50.0%) were female and 587 (50.0%) were males. The mean age of adolescents was 15.72 ± 1.14 years. The prevalence rate of problematic internet use was 7.1% among adolescent internet users. Those with excessive use internet had high scores on anxiety, depression, and anxiety depression. A relationship between problematic internet use and obesity was not found. Conclusions: Problematic internet use is becoming a significant public health issue that requires urgent attention. Effective measures are needed to prevent the spread of this problem and interventions to prevent the effects of problematic internet use on psychosomatic symptoms and life satisfaction should be conducted as early as possible
