dc.description.abstract | Christianity was born within Judaism in the Palestinian geography. It soon spread across the Roman Empire and addressed the gentile communities. As a result of the gentile missions, linguistic, demographic and cultural transformations took place among the new Christian communities. A distinction thus emerged between Jewish Christians on the one hand, and the Gentile Christianity on the other; and they became rivals. Among the two rival groups, Gentile Christianity eventually prevailed, while the other was marked as heretical. This essay aims to shed some light on the Jewish Christianity that required being Jewish as a pre-condition to convert to the new religion as well as the Ethiopian Christianity which revealed similar attitudes the Jewish Christianity with regard to Christians’ attitude to the Jewish religion. | en_US |
