Toe erosion induced landslides from şebinkarahisar (Giresun-Turkey): Part II, physically based susceptibility mapping
Abstract
This case study presented herein describes physically based susceptibility mapping in Avutmuş-Sebinkarahisar (Giresun-Turkey) and its vicinity using the SINMAP model. Sebinkarahisar has been recognized as a landslide-prone area. Landslides in this area caused several hazards in the houses and farming areas. In view of landslide re-occurrence potential in this area and its close environ, understanding of the failure mechanism is highly crucial. In order to predict the future landslides in the area and its vicinity, physically (SINMAP) based landslide susceptibility map was prepared by use of GIS. Validation of the map indicated a high quality susceptibility map for shallow landslides.
