| dc.description.abstract | Hepatoid adenocarcinomas of the stomach are gastric carcinomas harbouring adenocarcinomatous and hepatocellular differentiation. A patient with primary gastric adenocarcinoma of the stomach with high serum alpha- fetoprotein levels is described. After resection of tumor, serum alpha- fetoprotein and carcinoembryonic antigen levels decreased so that production of alpha-fetoprotein by tumor cells was strongly suggested. Adenocarcinomatous foci were composed of well-differentiated intestinal type epithelial cells and often contained carcinoembryonic antigen. Tumor cells of hepatoid foci mimicked hepatocellular carcinoma cells with predominantly trabecular pattern. | en_US |
