Effect of whole-body vibration on operators and drivers: Measurement and evaluation [Tüm vücut titresiminin operatör ve sürücüler üzerindeki etkileri: Ölçümü ve degerlendirilmesi]
Abstract
Vibrating forming machines and equipment are used in almost all parts of industry. While some vibration sources cause vibration that reaches the hands and arms of employees, some others leave the body under the negative influence of whole body vibration. Constantly changing environmental conditions, various geological and climatic conditions during mining activities are considered among adverse effects against the physical condition of workers. Mine workers and operators are exposed to mechanical vibration arising from their use of equipment and machinery. Vibration can affect the employees from the physical and psychological aspects, lead to the formation of occupational diseases and can endanger the occupational safety by affecting work performance. In this study, whole-body vibration exposure measurements of drivers and operators employed in various mining companies in the province of Sivas is made. The results are evaluated in accordance with national and international standards.
