Investigation of the measures taken and the risk of falling in hospitalized patients in internal medical clinics [Dâhili kliniklerde yatan bireylerin düşme riski ve alinan önlemlerin Incelenmesi]
Abstract
AIM: Ensuring patients' safety is important to avoid falls. This research was carried out as a descriptive study that was in medical clinics, determing the risks of falling and determination of measures designed to fall in patients. METHOD: The Research included 470 patients who were voluntary to this research and treated in medical clinics between March and June 2011 in an university hospital. The data to assess the risk of falls in patients, fall risk assessment questionnaire and Hendrich II Fall Risk Diagnostic Questionnaire and patients Information Form for collecting data. Data were analyzed using the frequency and percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, chi-square test RESULTS:60 % of the patients who participated in the study were at high risk of falling. Most of the measures taken to fall in patients: Cont inuous possession of accompanying (%37.4), the use of stretchers and beds balustrades (%62.3) and physical detection (%10.6). CONCLUSION: The study, the risk of falling increases with increasing age and patients in clinics for the fall of the measures taken by nurses were not adequate.
