K/T geçişinde anormal büyümüş Orbitoides apiculatus Schlumberger bireyleri
Özet
Antalya'nın KB'sında Yeleme köyü civarında yüzeyleyen Yeleme formasyonunun en üst Maastrihtiyen düzeylerinde anormal büyümüş Orbitoides apiculatus Schlumberger bireyleri gözlenmiştir. Bu bireyler, dış açıları 55-110° , iç açılan 80-115°, dış kalınlıkları 1.2-2.85, iç kalınlıkları 0.675-2.35 mm olacak şekilde yay şeklinde kıvrılmış olup, bulundukları düzeyde tüm diğer fosil bireylerinin % 19' unu oluştururlar. Bu düzeylerde, Orbitoides apiculatus Schlumberger' in normal fertleri %19, teratolojik fertleri %4, çoğalma döneminde fosilleşmiş fertleri %4 oranında bulunurlarken; Orbitoides apiculatus pamiri Meriç bireyleri %42 ve Orbitoides medius ( d'Archiac) bireyleri %14 oranında bulunurlar. Yay şeklinde kıvrılmış Orbitoides apiculatus Schlumberger anormal bireylerinin oluşumunun ikincil etkilerle olmadığı, bu fertlerin, KIT geçişinde çarpmanın neden olduğu ısı artışının bazı Orbitoides apiculatus Schlumberger bireylerinin büyüme tarzını etkilemesiyle oluşturdukları düşünülmüştür. An abnormal grow phase within Orbitoides apicalutus Schlumberger individuals observed in the upper most Maastrichtian "Yeleme fomation" (Poisson, 1968), exposed around the Yeleme village (Figure 1), NW of Antalya (SW Turkey) is determined and described. The Yeleme formation has a wildflysch character and consists of detritic sediments of Maastrichtian and Paleocene age an crops out in a tectonic window. Orbitoides apiculatus Schlumberger individuals in sandstone levels of uppermost Maastrichtian in Yeleme formation are determined. They are curly grown. These individuals are arc-shape curled and show approximately (a) 55-110° external and (b) 80-115° internal degree and external (A) 1.2 - 2.95 mm and internal (B) and their thickness ranges between 0.675-2.35 mm (Plate 1, Figs. 1-6). In this level, 19% of total individuals are normal, 19% of abnormal grow as curled, and 4% are regarded as teratological, and 4% are fossilized in increase phase as Orbitoides apicilatus Schlumberger individuals. These individuals are accompained with 42% of Orbitodies apiculatus pamiri Meriç and 14% of Orbitoides medius (d' Archiac). The curled shape of some Orbitoides apiculatus individuals is not secondary since normal and abnormal individuals were found together and display no breakig and crushing in test section. In addition, the tests are well preserved in other genera. In this case, some Orbitoides apiculatus individuals should have been formed as curled. This abnormal growth must have occurred due to ecological stresses in the shallow water environment caused by change in temperature at the K/T boundary.
