Öğe Biocompatibility of Different Universal Adhesives During Short and Long Periods on Rat Model(Journal of Photopolymer Science and Technology,, 2021) Ünal, Murat; Göze Saygın, Ayşegül; Ünal, Murat; Koç, Tülay; Candan, Merve; İpek, İremThis in vivo research aimed to compare the biocompatibility of five different Universal adhesives (UAs) in short and long periods. 108 polyethylene tubes filled with five UAs [Group 1: All Bond Universal (ABU), Group 2: Prime Bond Elect Universal (PBU), Group 3: Single Bond Universal (SBU), Group 4: Clearfil Universal Bond Quick (CUB), Group 5: Futurabond U (FBU)] or Group 6: empty (control group)] were implanted into the dorsal connective tissue of 36 rats. Groups 1, 2 and 3 were implanted in 18 rats, the other groups Groups 4, 5 and 6 were implanted in 18 rats. Then, the rats were sacrificed after time intervals 7, 30 and 90 days (n=12). Biopsy samples were examined in terms of inflammatory reaction, necrosis, macrophage infiltrate, giant cell and fibrous capsule criteria. When the UAs groups and control group were compared on the 7th, 30th and 90th days, significant statistical differences were found only on the 7th day in terms of fibrous capsule and macrophage infiltrate (p<0.05). In addition, statistical significant differences were found upon within the control group in terms of inflammation, necrosis, giant cell, fibrous capsule and macrophage infiltrate criteria on the 7th, 30th and 90th days (p<0.05). The all UAs that we used in our study have showed good biocompatibility in the subcutaneous tissues of the rats, and we think that they could be used clinically with resin-based restorative materials in all restorative treatments including deep dentine caries restorations.Öğe Diagnostic Comparison of Different Methods for Detection of Occlusal Caries Lesions in New Erupted Permanent Teeth(Ataturk Universitesi, 2025) İpek, İrem; Öznurhan, Fatih; Derdiyok, Cansu; Keskuş Şengül, BüsraObjective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the alternating current impedance spectroscopy device in the diagnosis of occlusal caries using visual and radiovisiography and determining the inter-researcher reliability of the device by repeating it with two different researchers. Materials and Methods: From thirty-five patients, a total of thirty-five new eruptive occlusal first molar teeth with intact or early decay were included. It was examined by visual, radiovisiography and CarieScan Pro (CP) device by two researchers with independent clinical experience. Results: With regard to intra-observer agreement for examiner 1 and 2, while there was only statistically significant difference between CP and ICDAS-II (P<.005), no significant difference was found among other groups. A high inter observer agreement and moderately good kappa value were seen. Conclusion: The ICDAS-II method alone appears to be sufficient for the diagnosis of occlusal caries. It was concluded that the CP technique showed a low ability to reveal occlusal carious lesions on enamel and/or dentin in newly erupted permanent molars. © 2025, Ataturk Universitesi. The disease mostly affects children under 5 years old. In the treatment of KD, use of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) together with acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) is accepted as the standard treatment. Early diagnosis and treatment is very important in this childhood disease, which has life-long complications such as thrombosis, coronary stenosis, myocardial infarction, calcifications, the rupture of giant coronary artery aneurysm and sudden death. The frequent occurrence of oral symptoms in KD indicates that pediatric dentists may play a role in the diagnosis of KD. Also, the symptoms, treatment and complications of KD affect the approach of dentists to patients during dental treatment procedures. The aim of this review is to share current information about KD which has come to the agenda during the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the world, and to guide the dentist's approaches during dental treatment of these patients.Öğe Wiedemann–Rautenstrauch Syndrome: Case Report(Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Dentistry, 2022) İpek, İrem; Derdiyok, Cansu; Öznurhan, FatihNeonatal-progeroid syndrome known as Wiedemann Rautenstrauch syndrome (WRS) is an extremely rare, autosomal recessive disorder. Neonatal progeroid disease characterized by progeroid appearance growth retardation, lipodystrophy, an unusual face (triangular shape, sparse hair, small mouth, macrocephaly, pointed jaw), thin skin, hard and thick joints and dental anomalies (newborn tooth; hypodontics). A 5-year-old boy case diagnosed with hypodontics is presented. In this case, a child prosthesis was performed to facilitate the nutrition of the patient and to increase the quality of life. © This work is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License
