Öğe Assessment of hemorrhage and paramagnetic substance accumulation in brain metastases by susceptibility weighted imaging(Sivas Cumhuriyet University, 2021) Gölbaşı, Abdurrahman; Şalk, İsmail; Bozbıyık, Nisa; Yıldız, BülentObjective: We aimed to make a differential diagnosis of brain metastases by using the percentage of the ITSS by the SWI sequence.Method: MR images of 77 patients with intracerebral metastases were evaluated in this study who had breast carcinoma (BC)(n=23), malignant melanoma (MM)(n=4), lung cancer (LC) (n=42), and gastrointestinal adenocancer (GIA)(n=8) as the primary tumor. We calculated the ratio of the ITSS pixels.Results: ITSS percentages of metastases were found 22.52% in LC, 47.61% in GIA, 11.85% in BC, and 60.75% in MM. In terms of differential diagnosis of the ITSS percentages measured in the SWI sequence, the diagnostic performance was very good between MM-BC, good between MM-LC, GIA-LC, and GIA-BC, and poor between LC-BC and GIA-MM. Percentages of ITSS had high sensitivity and specificity to make a differential diagnosis between GIA-LC, GIA-BC, MM-BC, and MM-LC.Conclusions: We conclude that measuring the ITSS percentage values of metastases when evaluating brain masses by MRI will provide valuable additional information for differential diagnosis.Öğe Determination of COPD severity from chest CT images using deep transfer learning network(2022) Polat, Özlem; Şalk, İsmail; Doğan, Ömer TamerThe purpose of this study is to present a solution to the problem of detecting the severity of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) from chest CT images using deep transfer learning network. The study has a novelty in terms of classifying the severity of COPD with machine learning methods for the first time in the literature. Transfer learning has been preferred because of its proven performance in image analysis and classification. In this study, a dataset containing a total of 1815 CT images from 121 patients with moderate, severe and very severe COPD was used. Lung parenchyma was first segmented from CT images using HSV color space thresholding. Then Inception-V3 model was trained and tested on the segmented image dataset for COPD severity classification. The tests were repeated 10 times. The proposed model was able to detect the severity level of COPD with an average accuracy of 96.79% and a maximum of 97.98%. The classification result proved that the severity of COPD can be classified with very high performance. Thus, the applied transfer learning is promising in medical sciences and can assist to radiologists in making quick and accurate decisions.Öğe Diaphragmatic Mesothelial Cyst And Percutaneous Ethanol Sclerotherapy: In A Young Girl(Sivas Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi, 2024) Cankorkmaz, Levent; Şalk, İsmail; Atalar, MehmetDiaphragmatic mesothelial cysts are rare congenital lesions that are lined with mesothelial cells. The diagnosis might be problematic because of their rarity and anatomic location. We report a case of with a diaphragmatic cyst in a 6–year–old girl. In this case, the cyst was found incidentally. We found a thin-wall, homogeneous cyst, which was between the lateral aspects of the liver and diaphragm with radiological imaging. The patient was planned for cyst aspiration and ethanol sclerotherapy was made based on the imaging findings. The cyst was aspirated and then performed ethanol sclerotherapy. The cytological findings of the cyst fluid were appeared to be degenerated histiocytes and mesothelial cells. If treatment is needed, percutaneous treatment is conceivable as the first choice of technique.Öğe Effect of septal deviation on osteomeatal complex distances(Sivas Cumhuriyet University, 2021) Dursun, Merve; Taştemur, Yaşar; Şalk, İsmail; Sabancıoğulları, VedatObjective: It is known that deviation of the septum plays an etiological role in the obstructions formed in the osteomeatal complex. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the effect of the degree of deviation of the nasal septum on the distances between the bone structures forming the osteomeatal complex.Method: The research universe was obtained by retrospectively scanning 1200 computed tomography (CT) images of January 2018-December 2019 in the PACS archive of the Department of Radiology of Sivas Cumhuriyet Faculty of Medicine Hospital. A total of 453 individuals, 228 females and 225 males (18-82 years old) meeting the criteria for inclusion in the study were included. Septal deviation angle was measured. Individuals were grouped according to the degree of septal deviation. Osteomeatal complex spaces (OMC) were evaluated according to the degree of septal deviation. In the study, the distance between OMC spaces was also investigated in the presence of sinusitis.Results: In the septum, the distance between lamina papyricea and middle nasal concha (LP-MNC) at medium and high grades was found to be large in the opposite direction of the deviation. The distance between the lamina papyricea and uncinate processÖğe Ender Bir Olgu: Bir Bebekte İki Taraflı Abdominoskrotal Hidrosele Bağlı İki Taraflı Hidronefroz(2020) Cankorkmaz, Levent; Atalar, Mehmet Haydar; Şalk, İsmail; Köylüoğlu, GökhanAbdominoskrotal hidrosel 1834 yılında Dupuytren tarafından tanımlanan ender görülen bir patolojidir. Abdominoskrotal hidroselin etiyolojisi tam olarak aydınlatılamamıştır. Abdominoskrotal hidrosele bağlı ender görülen komplikasyonlardan bazıları, tunika vajinalis malign mezotelyoma, hidroüreter/hidronefroz, testiküler düzleşmedir. Bu makalede, iki taraflı abdominoskrotal hidrosel basısına ikincil, iki taraflı hidronefroz saptanan yedi aylık bir erkek hasta sunulmaktadır. Hastaya iki taraflı hidroselektomi gerçekleştirildi. Postoperatif seyir sorunsuz geçti. Ameliyattan altı ay sonra yapılan renal ultrasonografi normaldi. Bu patoloji çok ender olsa da, çocuklardaki alt karın kitlelerinin ayırıcı tanısı ve hidronefroz nedeni olarak akılda tutulmalıdır. Cerrahi olarak çıkartıldıktan sonra, genellikle hidronefroz gerilemesi de dâhil, iyileşme tamdır.Öğe Evaluation of Poor Prognosis in rRT-PCR Positive Covid-19 Cases with Using Deep Transfer Learning Network(2022) Şalk, İsmail; Polat, Özlem; Hasbek, MürşitThe infection called Covid-19 caused by the new type of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is an epidemic and deadly disease that spreads rapidly all over the world. Early detection of Covid-19 will enable the patient to receive appropriate treatment and increase the chance of survival. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the detection of poor prognosis from chest CT images in Covid-19 patients who died and healed using deep learning. For this purpose, a dataset containing a total of 5997 CT images were used and images were classified using the Inception-V3. In order to evaluate the classifier ROC curves are drawn, AUC and accuracy values are used as performance metrics. Inception-V3 model was run 10 times, and a maximum classification performance of 97,55% and an average of 97,01% was achieved. The classification results prove that Inception-V3 can classify CT images with a high accuracy rate for evaluation of Covid-19 prognosis.Öğe GEÇİCİ VE DAİMİ SİMANLARİN DENTİNE OLAN BAĞLANMA DAYANIMI ÜZERİNE MANYETİK REZONANS GÖRÜNTÜLEME İŞLEMİNİN ETKİSİNİN ARAŞTIRILMASI(2021) Ülgey, Melih; Görler, Oğuzhan; Şalk, İsmail; Doğan, Derya ÖzdemirAmaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, geçici ve daimi simanlar ile simante edilmiş Co-Cr metal örneklerin dentine bağlanma dayanımınamanyetik rezonans görüntülemenin (MRG) etkisini araştırmaktır.Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışmada 40 adet çekilmiş çürüksüz insan molar dişi, kullanılan siman sistemine göre ve MRG işlemininuygulanması durumuna göre rastgele gruplara ayrıldı (n=10). Co-Cr metal örnekler 7 mm çapında ve 3 mm kalınlığında olacakşekilde lazer sinterleme yöntemi ile üretildi. Dişlerin okluzal yüzeyindeki mine dokusu elmas bıçak ile ayrıldıktan sonra, örneklerseçilen siman sistemine uygun şekilde simante edildi ve planlanan gruplara MRG işlemi uygulandı. Her iki siman sistemininkontrol gruplarına ise MRG uygulanmadı. Örnekler 24 saat 37oC suda bekletilip, universal test cihazına yerleştirildi. MRGişleminin bağlanma dayanımı üzerine etkisi makaslama bağlanma dayanım testiyle ölçüldü. Veriler megapascal cinsindenkaydedildi.Bulgular: Daimi siman sistemi kullanılan grup değerlendirildiğinde, MRG uygulanmış grubun (2.27±0.39) makaslama bağlanmadayanımı, MRG uygulanmamış gruba (2.62±0.44) göre daha düşük bulundu ancak bu fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlı değildi(p>0.05). Benzer şekilde, geçici siman sistemi kullanılan grup değerlendirildiğinde, MRG uygulanmış grubun (0.50±0.22)makaslama bağlanma dayanımı, MRG uygulanmamış gruba (0.85±0.30) göre daha düşük bulundu ancak bu fark istatistikselolarak anlamlı değildi (p>0.05).Sonuç: Co-Cr metal alaşımıyla üretilmiş restorasyon kullanan bireylerde, 15 dakika süreyle 1.5-T MRG uygulanması,restorasyonun dentine olan bağlanma dayanımını azaltır ancak bu durum klinik olarak anlamlı olabilecek düzeyde değildir.Öğe Kronik hepatitli hastaların portal ven ve karaciğer volümlerinin değerlendirilmesi(Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi, 2003) Şalk, İsmail; Bulut, Sema[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Papillary carcinoma in thyroglossal duct cyst: A case report(Sivas Cumhuriyet University, 2019) Çetin, Gülay; Şalk, İsmailThyroglossal duct cysts (TDC) are the most common congenital neck cysts and malignancy can be seen in 1% of the cases. The most common malignant pathology of the thyroid is papillary carcinoma. Pathological examination is necessary for diagnosis and planning of the treatment. In this study, we reported a 42-year-old male patient who has a 17x15 mm diameter TDC in the midline and he was treated with transcervical excision after US-guided fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) from the solid lesion.Öğe The Relationship Between Anatomical Variations and Paranasal Sinus Volumes With Climate and Altitude(Sivas Cumhuriyet University, 2022) Taştemur, Yaşar; Öztürk, Ayşegül; Sabancıoğulları, Asım; Şalk, İsmail; Tetiker, Hasan; Altun, Ahmet; Sabancıoğulları, VedatThis study aimed to evaluate the effect of climate and altitude differences on the volume of paranasal sinuses and on the frequency of anatomic variations by comparing the paranasal sinus computerized tomography (PNSCT) of patients who were born and living in a cold, dry climate at high altitude with those of patients who were born and living on the coast at sea level in a temperate climate. We also aimed to determine differences relating to gender. A total of 914 individuals, 402 (44%) in Adana, and 512 (56%) in Sivas were evaluated and compared prospectively. Axial and coronal CT sections were used for volume measurements in the paranasal sinuses. For measurements, the widest view of the sinuses was used. The findings of this study have shown that age groups and genders compared measurements between the two cities. When the age groups are examined, there is no significant difference between the regions between 0-20 years of age (p> 0.05), whereas 21-40,41-60,61 and above individuals have a significant difference between the frontal and sphenoid sinuses (p 0.05).
