Effect of welding parameters on the fatigue properties of dissimilar AISI 2205-AISI 1020 joined by friction welding
(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2015) Mercan, Serdar; Aydin, Sinan; Ozdemir, Niyazi
In this study, AISI 2205 duplex stainless steel, most commonly used in its class and economical AISI 1020 steel couple with low carbon content, were connected using different operation parameters through friction welding. Tension test and rotary bending fatigue test were applied to the welded connections, and the impact of the welding parameters on fatigue strength was examined. It was discovered that when the welding parameters used in connecting AISI 2205 and AISI 1020 steel couple through friction welding were selected correctly, fatigue strength of the connection would increase compared to the main material, and incompliant parameters decreased fatigue strength. Investigation of the effects of nanoparticles on metal adhesives
(Gazi Univ, Fac Engineering Architecture, 2021) Aydin, Sinan
Adhesives; are joining elements used for production, assembly and repair. Adhesives of different types and properties are widely used today and it is aimed to improve their mechanical properties by adding nanoparticles into the adhesives. In this study, two different epoxy adhesives, which are used in the bonding of metal surfaces in individual and industrial applications, are incorporated in two different epoxy adhesives in the range of 0.5% to 5% by weight, and changes in the adhesive strength of adhesives on different roughened surfaces are examined. While there was an increase in adhesion strength up to 2% to 3.5% according to surface condition, nanoparticle diameter and adhesive type, negative effects of nanoparticles were observed after these ratios and decreases in adhesion strength were determined.

Structural analysis of Cu-based FeCr reinforced composites prepared by mechanical alloying
(WALTER DE GRUYTER GMBHGENTHINER STRASSE 13, D-10785 BERLIN, GERMANY, 01 July 2023) Yilmaz, S. Osman; Teker, Tanju; Aydin, Sinan
Production and structural investigations of Cu-based FeCr reinforced composite were performed by using mechanical alloying, optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction and hardness test. The increment in FeCr addition caused the increment in the cold deformation rate. This situation resulted in breakage of the powder particles throughout mechanical alloying. Thus, the grain dimension of the FeCr powders decreased and the Fe wt.% in the CuCr powders advanced. The collision force between the Cu-Cr powder and the grinding ball weakened with the increase of FeCr concentration and resulted as higher reinforcement size. After mechanical milling, FeCr grains decreased in size more than copper grains due to the ductility of copper grains. The smaller crystals occurred after grinding, and increased the grain boundary zone for further spread of Cr into the Cu. Despite the high sintering process, the high sintering temperature improved the compactness of the alloys, but caused coarsening of the nanoparticles. The mechanical alloying time, reinforcement wt.% and sinter temperature were effective on the microhardness of the microstructure.
