Öğe Evaluation of the Relationship Between Mobile Phone Usage and miRNA-574-5p and miRNA-30C-5p Levels in Thyroid Cancer Patients(Galenos Publ House, 2024) Hasbek, Zekiye; Tas, Ayca; Erturk, Seyit Ahmet; Sariakcali, Baris; Babacan, Ozge Ulas; Duman, Gulhan; Silig, YavuzObjectives: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between mobile phone usage and miRNA-574-5p and miRNA-30C-5p levels in patients diagnosed with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). Methods: Fifty patients diagnosed with DTC and 50 healthy volunteers were included in the study. miRNA-574-5p and miRNA-30C-5p gene expression levels in the blood of all subjects were analyzed by real time-polymerase chain reaction, and a questionnaire including various questions was administered to both groups. Results: Although there was a 7.60 -fold increase in miRNA-30C-5p gene expression levels in the patient group compared with the control group, it was not found to be statistically significant. Considering the miRNA-574-5p gene expression levels, although there was a 2.96 -fold increase in the patient group compared with the control group, no significant relationship was found. In our study, 85% of our patients were using mobile phones with internet access, whereas 98% of our healthy volunteers were using mobile phones (p<0.05). While 53.5% of the patients had their mobile phones with them while they were sleeping, this rate was 83.7% in healthy volunteers (p<0.05). However, 93.9% of the healthy volunteers did not have a Wi-Fi device in their bedrooms, and this rate was 75% in the patient group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Although miRNA-30C-5p and miRNA-574-5p gene expression levels were higher in patients than in healthy volunteers, the differences were not statistically significant. Although there was no significant difference in miRNA levels, we believe that due to the higher rate of Wi-Fi device presence in bedrooms in patients compared with healthy volunteers, the effects of electromagnetic radiation on the thyroid can be reduced by paying attention to this simple change.Öğe Relationship between Histone Deacetylase (HDAC) Overexpression and 18F-FDG PET/CT Parameters in Patients with Gastric Cancer, and Prognostic Importance of HDAC Overexpression(Akad Doktorlar Yayinevi, 2023) Babacan, Ozge Ulas; Hasbek, Zekiye; Yilmaz, Mukaddes; Ozer, Hatice; Ataseven, HilmiHiston Deacetylases (HDACs) exert a pro-oncogenic effect by keeping genes that cause differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle arrest in a transcriptionally quiescent state. Moreover to achieve our aim, we investigated the relationship between the patients' HDAC protein expression rates and their prognosis. In no patients, tumors were located in the cardia and corpus. While the median HDAC1 protein score was 3.5 in the early stage patients, it was 8 in the advanced stage (stage 1-2) patients, and 12 in the metastatic stage (stage 4) patients. There was a significant correlation between HDAC protein positivity and tumor localization (p= 0.030). Significant correlation was observed between histopathological stages and median HDAC1 protein scores. (p= 0.021). The HDAC1 protein score increased as the patients' stage progressed. Given the relationship between HDAC1 proteins and the survival of the patients, the 2-year survival rate was high in HDAC1 positive patients; however, it was not statistically significant. According to the results of our study, in HDAC1-positive gastric cancer patients, there was no significant relationship between SUVmax showing tumor metabolism in 18F-FDG PET/CT.Öğe Relationship of Plasma Cell Infiltration Rates with 18F-FDG PET/CT Data and Hematological Parameters in Multiple Myeloma(Galenos Publ House, 2025) Babacan, Ozge Ulas; Hasbek, Zekiye; Terzi, HaticeObjectives: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the degree of bone marrow involvement, hematological parameters, and 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG)-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) data in patients diagnosed with multiple Methods: A total of 71 patients [19 females, 52 males, mean age 67 (36-83) years] who were diagnosed with multiple myeloma between 2014 and 2021, had not received any treatment yet, and underwent 18F-FDG-PET/CT for staging were included in the study. Results: No significant correlation was observed between bone marrow standardized uptake value (SUV)max and plasma cell infiltration (p=0.07). However, we found that patients with visually increased bone marrow counts also had higher plasma cell infiltration rates (p=0.037). No significant correlation was found between plasma cell infiltration rates and bone marrow SUVmax and systemic inflammatory index (SII) (p=0.187 and p=0.446, respectively). However, there was a significant correlation between the SUVmax of lytic lesions showing increased 18F-FDG uptake in bone and SII (p=0.025, r=0.330). Conclusion: We believe that 18F-FDG PET/CT may be an advantage over bone marrow biopsy in the diagnosis and evaluation of multiple myeloma recurrence and may prevent repeated bone marrow biopsies.Öğe The Relationship between the SUVmax Value Obtained in Ga-68 PSMA PET/CT and Lactate Dehydrogenase and Alkaline Phosphatase in Prostate Cancer(Iniestares, S.A., 2022) Erturk, Seyit Ahmet; Salk, Ismail; Yuecel, Birsen; Babacan, Ozge Ulas; Hasbek, ZekiyeObjectives: ALP and LDH are serum markers of prognostic importance in prostate cancer patients. PET/CT imaging with Ga-68 PSMA has played an important role in prostate cancer imaging in recent years. Our aim in this study was to evaluate the relationship and prognostic significance between SUVmax values obtained with Ga-68 PSMA PET/CT and LDH and ALP levels in prostate cancer patients. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 61 prostate cancer patients who had Ga-68 PSMA PET/CT imaging and who did not have a prostatectomy between 2019 and 2020. PSA, ALP and LDH levels were measured in all patients before or after imaging within a maximum of 28 days. Results: The median age of the patients included in this study was 73 (range: 57-89) and all 61 patients were prostatic adeno-carcinoma. 50 (82%) of the patients had distant metastasis in Ga-68 PSMA PET/CT. There was a significant positive correlation between serum LDH and PSA levels. There was a positive correlation between serum ALP and PSA levels. A negative correlation was found between ALP levels and prostate SUVmax. Conclusions: While negative correlation was found between SUVmax and ALP levels, no correlation was found between LDH levels and SUVmax. High ALP levels were found to be related to metastasis rates and severity and high serum PSA levels.
