    Nurse Managers' and Staff Nurses' Assessment and Evaluation of Organizational Culture

    Objective: To compare staff nurses' assessment and evaluation of organizational culture and to compare the evaluation of organizational culture made by staff nurses and nurse managers. Materials and Methods: The universe of this descriptive study was constituted by all nurse managers (N=50) and all the staff nurses (N=246) at a Turkish university hospital. In total 94% of the nurse managers and 79% of the staff nurses have been accessed. Organizational Culture; Questionnaire Form for Its Effects upon Organizational Culture and Personnel Behavior in the Case of a Hospital was used for data collection. Results: There were statistically significant differences between the staff nurses assessment related to the strong organizational culture that should exist at a hospital and their evaluation related to organizational culture that currently exists at their hospital. Similarly there were statistically significant differences between evaluation of current organizational culture by the nurse managers and the staff nurses. Conclusion: Staff nurses were able to identify the features of strong organizational culture, however, they have more negative evaluation of the organizational culture, assessment and evaluation of the staff nurses were not in harmony with each other. Staff nurses evaluated organizational culture more negatively than their managers.
