In this work, using the effective mass approximation within variational approach, we have studied the behavior of the excitonic binding energies in a cylindrical quantum wire with a parabolic confinement under the effect of externally applied magnetic field. We have shown that the excitonic binding energy is sensitive to the magnetic field value in contrast to the other potential profiles studied in literature such as rectangular quantum wells (wires).
