It is known that peripheral nerve involvement may occur in brucellosis. A total of 24 patients with brucellosis underwent nerve conduction study in 4 extremities in this present study. Of the patients, 16 were women and 8 were men. The mean age was calculated to be 45.6 years. Of the controls, consisting of healthy individuals, 13 were 13 women and 7 were men. The mean age of the controls was 44.3 years. We observed prolongation of bilateral median nerve latency in 5 of the brucellosis cases (20.8%). Furthermore, two of these 5 patients were established to have prolongation of peroneal nerve latency. We conclude that brucellosis may have a leading role in the etiopathogenesis of entrapment neuropathies in developing countries and nerve conduction studies can be of benefit for patients with such disorders.en_US
