Aim: To determine the prevalence of Virchow-Robin spaces in hippocampus in temporal lobe epilepsy. Methods: Virchow-Robin spaces were evaluated on cranial magnetic resonance imaging of 46 patients with temporal lobe epilepsy and 75 healthy controls in hippocampus. Results: Virchow-Robin spaces were found in 28 of 46 (60.9%) patients and 28 of 75 (37.5%) controls and were significantly more frequent in patients (X-2 =6.35, p<0.05). Conclusion: There appears to be an association between temporal lobe epilepsy and the presence of Virchow-Robin spaces in the hippocampus.en_US
