Characterization and chemical treatment of Sivas organized industrial estate (SOIE) wastewater
Abstract
A wastewater characterization was performed on the end-pipe 2-h composite samples originating from a small scale organized industrial estate located in Sivas (SOIE), in the North east Turkey. A wastewater management strategy was developed. Due to varied wastewater flow and characteristics, chemical coagulation was evaluated as pretreatment to comply with the discharge limits. All types of coagulants achieved high removal efficiency of COD (> 70%) and TSS (50%). FeSO4 (being the most cheapest coagulant) was assessed the optimum one for complying with discharge limits for the present loads.
