Aims: The aim of the present study was to determine whether the absence of adhesio interthalamica is associated with epilepsy. Methods: Thirty-seven patients with epilepsy and 21 healthy volunteers were included in the study. Electroencephalography and cranial magnetic resonance imaging scan were conducted on all cases. Results: Adhesio interthalamica was absent in 8 epileptic patients and in 5 healthy control subjects. There were no any statistical differences between two groups (p>0.05). Conclusions: Although cerebral midline defects may play a role in epilepsy, the present data indicate that absence of an adhesio interthalamica occurs in healthy controls equally often as in patients with epilepsy.en_US
