Amobiyoz ve blastosisde gastrointestinal semptomların görülme sıklığı
Abstract
This study was done in order to determine the distribution of gastrointestinal symptoms among people with amoebae. Also, whether the use of native-Lugol examination alone is sufficient for detection of the amoebae was investigated. When the stool specimens were examined, using the native-Lugol, formalin-ether and the trichrome staning methods, various species of amoebae and B. hominis were found in 34 out of 250 people. The parasites detected in the 34 included 16 (6.4%) Entamoeba coli, 8 0.2%) E. histolytica, 4 (1.6%) /. butschlii, 3 (1.2%) E. nana, and 6 (2,4%) B. hominis. Abdominal pain was found to be the most frequent symptom and nausea plus vomiting and diarrhoea were next in frequency in persons harbouring certain species of parasites. According to these results, parasitic diseases must be considered in cases of gastrointestinal disorders and we suggest that native-Lugol and trichrome staining methods should be used for the detection of amoeba in stool specimens
