Gençlerin Siyasal Toplumsallaşmasını Etkileyen Faktörler: Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi Öğrencileri Üzerine Bir İnceleme

Abstract

Toplumsallaşma olgusunun ayrılmaz parçası olan siyasal toplumsallaşma, bireyin siyasal yönelimlerini, tutumlarını ve davranışlarını şekillendiren ve istikrarlı hale getiren bir süreçtir. Siyasal toplumsallaşma süreci yoluyla insanlar, belli bir toplumsal grubun veya topluluğun inançlarını, değerlerini ve davranış kodlarını edinirler ve o toplumsal grubun veya topluluğun siyasal yapılarıyla bütünleşirler. Böylece siyasal kültürü içselleştirmiş olurlar. Bir siyasal sistemin devamlılığı da toplumun yeni üyelerinin siyasal kültürü ne kadar içselleştirdiği ile doğrudan alakalıdır. Toplumların geleceği olan gençlerin siyasal toplumsallaşma süreçleri siyasal sistemin devamlılığı açısından önem arz etmektedir. Bu tez araştırmasının amacı da gençlerin siyasal toplumsallaşmasında etkili olan faktörlere ışık tutabilmektir. Siyasal toplumsallaşma konusunda yapılmış olan bu çalışma teorik ve uygulamalı olmak üzere iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde teorik olarak siyasal toplumsallaşma kavramı; siyasal toplumsallaşma kavramını daha iyi anlayabilmek adına kültür, siyasal kültür, toplumsallaşma ve siyasal yabancılaşma kavramları incelenmiştir. Siyasal toplumsallaşma faktörleri/aracıları/ajanları olarak kabul edilen aile, eğitim-öğretim hayatı, arkadaşlık grupları, kitle iletişim araçları ve sosyal medya da siyasal toplumsallaşma ile ilişkileri dâhilinde açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca siyasal toplumsallaşma kuramlarına da ilk bölümde değinilmiştir. Çalışmanın uygulama bölümünde siyasal toplumsallaşma ile ilgili üniversite öğrencilerine yönelik bir anket çalışması yapılmıştır. 400 kişiye yapılan anketin cevapları frekans tabloları, ki-kare testi ve çapraz tablolar kullanılarak yorumlanmış ve sürece etki eden faktörler tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmada Türkiye’deki mevcut siyasal kültürün devamlılığına ve değişimine ilişkin önemli bulgular elde edilmiştir.

Political socialization, which is an integral part of the phenomenon of socialization, is the process that shapes and stabilizes the individual’s politial orientations, attitudes and behaviors. Through the process of political socialization, individuals acquire the beliefs, values and codes of conduct of a particular social group or community and integrate with the political structures of that social group or community. Thus, they internalize political culture. The continuity of o political system is directly related to how much new members of society internalize political culture. The political socialization processes of the young people, which are the future of societies, are important for the continuity of the political system. The aim of this thesis is to shed light on the factors that affect the political socialization of young people. This study on political socialization consist of two parts, theoretical and practical. In the first part of the study, the concept of political socialization, the concepts of culture, political culture, socialization and political alienation are examined in order to better understand the concept of political socialization. Family, education life, friendship groups, mass media and social media which are accepted as political socialization factors/mediators/agents have been tried to be explained in relation to political socialization. In addition, the theories of political socialization are discussed in the first part. In the application part of the study, a survey was conducted for university students about political socialization. The responses of the questionnaire to 400 people were interpreted by using frequency tables, chi-square test and cross tables and the factors affecting the process were determined. The key findings regarding the continuity and change in Turkey’s current political culture in this study were obtained.
