In the literature of finance, there are many theories and models that want to explain the dividend distribution policies of firms. Although many studies have been carried out on this subject, no consensus has yet been reached in dividend distribution to policies in academic circles. In this sense, the issue of dividend is quite complex due its very nature. Black (1976) described this as “a puzzle whose pieces do not fit together.” This study aims to test the relationship between profit share payment and firm value by analyzing the financial ratios of firms in Borsa Istanbul (Istanbul Stock Exchange - BIST) 30 index. 20 firms included in BIST 30 Index between 2007 and 2017 (11 periods) have been examined. In practice, while the market value/book value (MVBV) ratio as dependent variable means growth in premiums as the performance criterion, Tobin’s Q (TBNQ) ratio has been used to represent the firm value. As independent variables, two models have been created by using earnings per share (EPS), TMT2 which shows the company’s dividend payment status, return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), active growth (AG), equity growth rate (EGR) and price-earnings ratio (PER). E-views 9 and Stata-14.2 package programs were utilized to test the installed models. As a result, for the first model MVBV, ROA variable shows negatively significant effect while ROE and PER variables have positively significant effect. For the second model Tobin’s Q, our variables showing dividend payment status of companies, ROA, ROE and PER have been found to be positively significant.tr
