Sivas yöresinde ev tozu akarlarının yaygınlığı ve atopik alerjideki rolü
Abstract
Dust specimens obtained from private houses, carpet ateliers, kilim (woven carpet) ateliers and from carpet shops, in Sivas, were investigated for the presence of mites and their possible roles in atopic allergy. For this purpose, 50 different dust specimens taken from different places, from May to June and October to November 2000 were investigated in Sivas. These house-dust specimens were investigated using direct microscopy, the saturated saline flotation method and the lactic acid sedimentation method. The microscopic examinations were carried out using lOx and 40x objectives. No mites were found in those specimens taken from 50 different places from May to June 2000. However, 9 (18%) of 50 specimens collected between October and November contained mites. Besides this finding we also observed helminth eggs, larvae and mature helminths in 8 (16%) of them. Nematode larvae and mature helminths were found in 4 (8%) specimens, Taenia eggs in 2 (%4), Enterobius vermicularis eggs in one (%2), and Toxocara canis eggs in one (% 2). Inhabitants of 13 out of the 24 houses had allergies and we found mites in 4 of these houses. However, we found mites in 3 samples from houses which the inhabitants had no allergic problems. There was no significant difference between the two groups.
