(p<0.05). Sonuç: Yenidoğan bebeğin doğumdaki durumunu belirlemek için umblikal kord kan gazıyla Apgar skorlamasının beraber kullanılması gerekmektedir.en_US
Objective: To determine the relationship between umblical artery blood gases and Apgar scores and to determine the effects of some obstetric and perinatal factors on these Materials and Methods: One hundred fifty newborn infants delivered either vaginally or by cesarean section were recruited into the study. One and five minutes Apgar scores of each infant were determined and umblical artery blood gases were analyzed. Data were processed by appropriate statistical analyses in order to clarify the relationship between various perinatal and obstetric parameters ,umblical cord blood acidbase Results: 14.7 % (n=22) of neonates had Apgar scores <7 while 12% (n=18) of them had pH values ≤7.25. There was a significant positive correlation between umblical artery blood gases and Apgar scores (p<0.05). In the infants delivered by cesarean section Apgar scores were significantly lower than the infants delivered vaginally (p<0.05). In the newborns with perinatal and obstetric risk factors Apgar scores were found significantly lower than the newborns without perinatal and obstetric risk factors (p<0.05). Conclusion: To asses the condition of the newborn umblical artery blood gases and Apgar scores must be used together.en_US
