The aim of this paper is to clarify Kant's view on man which can be obtained from his three writings. These are 'Idea for a Universal History with a Cosmopolitan Purpose', 'Perpetual Peace' and 'What is Enlightenment?'. Although Kant builds all his philosophy on 'critical' basis, in his three Critiques he does not give a straightforward definition of man. His direct views on man, society and state can be found in the above mentioned writings. The problem is how the antagonistic individual will be able to establish perpetual peace. If man by nature is essentially antagonistic, he cannot be perpetually peaceful. But if nature, by using this antagonism has a secret plan for man to achieve this final end, it is worth to strive for. This is an idea, not yet a reality; but the hope that it shall become a reality can guide the human being towards its achievement.en_US
