Lise 2. Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Matematik Dersine Yönelik Tutumları ve Başarıları Arasındaki İlişki

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, resmi genel liselerin ikinci sınıf öğrencilerinin matematiğe yönelik tutumlarını, matematik başarılarını ve öğrencilerin tutum puanları ile başarı puanları arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Öğrencilerin matematiğe yönelik tutumları Aşkar (1986) tarafından geliştirilen matematik tutum ölçeği ile belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin matematik başarıları yazar tarafından hazırlanan matematik başarı testi ile belirlenmiştir. Ölçekler Ankara'daki sekiz okulda 500 lise ikinci sınıf öğrencisine uygulanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde öğrencilerin yarıdan fazlasının matematiğe yönelik olumlu tutum içinde oldukları görülmüştür. Buna rağmen matematik başarı testi sonuçlarına göre öğrencilerin beşte üçünden fazlasının (%68,4) başarısız olduğu görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin tutum puanları ve başarı puanları arasında anlamlı farklılık olduğu görülmüştür.

The purpose of this study is to investigate attitudes towards mathematics of second grade students in public high school, and mathematics achievement, and finally relationship between students' attitudes towards mathematics and mathematics achievement. Students' attitudes towards mathematics were determined by scale of attitude which was developed by Aşkar (1986). Students' mathematics achievement was determined by achievement test which was developed by author. In this research, the instruments (mathematics attitude scale, achievement test) were administered to 500 students of the second grade from eighth different high schools in Ankara. Results of data analysis indicated that more than half of students had positive attitudes towards mathematics. However, more than third five (68,4%) failed to mathematics according to score of mathematics achievement test. Significant differences were found between students' attitudes towards mathematics and mathematics achievement.
