Sosyolojinin Toplumu Yeniden Kurmadaki Rolüne İlişkin Bazı Düşünceler

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, sosyoloji kuramlarından bazılarının genel özelliklerine değinilecek, toplumu yeniden kurmadaki rolleri vurgulanacaktır. Avrupa merkezcil bilimin, sosyolojiye, toplumu kurma sürecinde önemli bir rol biçmiş olduğu yaygın olarak bilinmektedir. Özellikle, ABD'de siyasi otoritenin sosyoloji bilgilerinden önemli ölçüde yararlandığı gözlenmektedir. Oysa, sosyolojinin böyle bir rolü olabileceği, Türkiye'de çok az sayıda ilgili tarafından hatırlanmaktadır. İnsan ilişkilerinin düzenlenmesinde, sosyoloji bilgilerinin vazgeçilmezliğinin akademi ve akademi dışı çevrelerce kamuoyuna yeterince anlatılamamış olduğu söylenebilir. Uygulayıcılar da, kalkınma sürecinde, sosyoloji alanında üretilen bilgilerden aktif bir şekilde yararlanma talebinde pek bulunmamışlardır. Böyle bir durumun oluşmasında, sosyoloji kuramlarının genel özelliklerinin de iyi değerlendirilememiş olmasının rolü vardır. Sonuçta, sosyolojinin, Türkiye'de toplumu yeniden kurmadaki rolü büyük ölçüde sınırlı kalmış olduğu iddia edilebilir.

The main focus of this paper is related to the general characteristics of social theory and their roles in the reconstruction of society as a whole. It is assumed that European centred social sciences endowed a special function to sociology and other disciplines flourished on the base of its method and practices. It is widely known that in the West the sociological knowledge has been very effectively used in order to organise and regulate both public and private life. In contrast, sociological approaches to the social issues have never been brought to the discussion agenda of Turkish intellectuals. Sociological knowledge, however, sğems to be inevitable requirement in the process of organising and reorganising public affairs and also all possiblehuman relations. In addition, no one, including politicians, has demanded from sociologists to provide themselves with reliable and useful information related to the society and culture. It is asserted that Turkish people in general failed to use many functional elements of social theory in the process of both economical and social development. In the end, the role of sociology in the reconstruction of social structure seems to have been widely constrained.
