Paranazal sinüs bilgisayarlı tomografi kesitlerinde sekonder orta konka sıklığı

Abstract

Amaç: Çalışmamızda sekonder orta konka sıklığı ve bunun ostiomeatal kompleks obstrüksiyonuna yol açıp açmadığı araştırıldı. Hastalar ve Yöntemler: Nazal kavite ve paranazal sinüslerin kronik enflamatuvar patolojilerinin araştırılması amacıyla, 660 hastanın (yaş dağılımı 10-70) 4 mm kesit kalınlığı ile çekilen paranazal sinüs bilgisayarlı tomografi kesitleri retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Yirmi beş olguda (%3.78; 14 erkek, 11 kadın) iki taraflı sekunder orta konka görüldü. Bu olgularda ostiomeatal kompleks obstrüksiyonuna ait bir patolojiye rastlanmadı. Sonuç: Sekonder orta konka varyasyonunun ameliyat öncesi paranazal sinüs bilgisayarlı tomografisinde tanınması, endoskopik sinüs cerrahisi sırasında oryantasyonun kaybedilmemesine yardımcı olacaktır.

Objectives: We investigated the incidence of secondary middle concha and whether or not it is associated with obstruction in the osteomeatal complex. Patients and Methods: In an effort to evaluate chronic inflammatory pathologies of the nasal cavi-ty and paranasal sinuses, we reviewed computed tomography scans (slice thickness 4 mm) of 660 patients (age range 10 to 70 years). Results: Bilateral secondary nasal middle conchae were documented in 25 patients (3.78%; 14 males, 11 females). In none of the cases was the presence of secondary middle concha associated with osteomeatal complex obstruction. Conclusion: The identification of the secondary nasal middle concha on preoperative computed tomography scans may help to maintain a better orientation during endoscopie surgery of the paranasal sinuses.
