Cinsel eğitimde ebeveynlerin yeri: Ne yapıyorlar, ne yaşıyorlar?

Abstract

Bu araştırma, ebeveynlerin cinsellikle ilgili konularda çocuklarıyla olan iletişimleri ve yaşadıkları durumları belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırma, Ankara'nın sekiz merkez ilçesinden seçilen toplam sekiz ortaöğretim okulunda yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın evrenini belirlenen okullardaki öğrencilerin (18 327 öğrenci) ebeveynleri oluşturmuştur. Örneklem ise bu evrenden seçilen 376 öğrencinin ebeveyni olarak bulunmuştur (752 ebeveyn). Okulların rehber öğretmenlerinin denetiminde eşit sayıda lise 1, 2 ve 3. sınıf öğrencisine, ebeveynlerine iletilmek üzere hazırlanan soru formu dağıtılmıştır. Ancak örneklemin %72.6'sına (546 ebeveyn) ulaşılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde yüzdelik ve x2 önemlilik testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlan ebeveynlerin cinsellikle ilgili ilk bilgilerini arkadaşlarmdan aldıklarını ve %56.4'ünün cinsellikle ilgili konulardaki bilgilerini yeterli bulduklarım göstermiştir. Ancak ebeveynlerin %36.3 gibi önemli bir kısmının çocuklarının cinsellikle ilgili sorularını yanıtlarken kendilerini bilgi yönünden yetersiz hissettikleri saptanmıştır. Ayrıca ebeveynlerin %37.6'sının cinsellikle ilgili konuları çocuklarıyla rahat bir şekilde konuşamadıkları, tamamına yakınının profesyonel bir kişi ve merkezden yardım almadığı ve çocuklarını konu ile ilgili profesyonel kişi ya da kuruma yönlendirmedikleri belirlenmiştir. Ebeveynlere çocukları tarafından sorulan sorular incelendiğinde, ilk sırada kız-erkek arkadaşlığının yer aldığı, bunu ergenlik dönemi fiziksel ve psikolojik değişikliklerin izlediği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca çocukların cinsellikle ilgili soruları daha çok annelerine sordukları bulunmuştur.

This descriptive study was carried out to determine parent-adolescent comminication on sexual issues and parent's experiences during this communication. The study was carried out in total eight high schools selected from eight main provinces in Ankara. The universe of research was consisted of student's parents on selected schools. The sample of the research was consisted of 376 student's parents on the selected schools (762 parents). Questionnaires were given to the students (nineth, tenth, eleventh grade) to transmit to their parents by the help of their own school teacher. 546 parents answered the questionnaire (72.6 % of defined sample). The data were analyzed by using SPSS 9.0 statistics package program. The statistical methods used to analyze the data were percentage and chi-square statistics. The reseach results showed that parents (mothers 41.1%, fathers 50.4%) received their first information on sexuality from their friends and 56.4% of parents thought that they had sufficient sexual information. On the other hand it was determined that 36.3% of parents felt insufficient themselves related to sexual informatin when they answer children's questions. Furthermore, it was fonud that 36.6 % Of parents can't easily talk on sexual issues with their chidren, nearly all parents didn 't take professional help and didn't orient their children to professional centres or personnels. When it was analyzed the questions that asked to parents from their childrens about sexuality, it was found that girl-boy friendship as first and physical psychologic changes in adolescent period as second. In addition, the results showed that childrens asked the more questions about sexuality to their mothers than fathers.
