Ülkemizde Sosyolojinin Tanınmasında Ve Gelişmesinde Katkıları Olan Bir Düşünür: Mehmet İzzet

Abstract

Mehmet İzzet, 1891-1930 yılları arasında yaşamış ve ülkemizde sosyolojinin tanınmasında ve gelişmesinde katkıları olmuş bir sosyologdur. Bu çalışma ile yazmış olduğu kitap ve makaleler analiz edilerek bu katkının çerçevesi çizilmeye çalışılmıştır. Mehmet İzzet sosyolojinin amacı, konuları, yöntemi üzerinde durmuş; sosyolojinin amacını belirlemiş, konularının sınırlarını çizmiş ve izlemesi gereken yöntem konusunda görüşler ileri sürmüştür. Sosyolojinin gelişmesi ve topluma yararlı bir bilim haline gelebilmesi için sosyolojide işbölümü ve uzmanlaşmaya gidilmesinin önemini vurgulamıştır. Fert ile toplum arasındaki ilişkiler üzerinde durmuş; ferdin toplum üzerindeki ve toplumun de fert üzerindeki etkilerini saptamaya çalışmıştır.

Mehmet İzzet who is a sociologist lived during the years of 1891-1930 and had important contributions on the recognition and development of Sociology in Türkiye. With this study, it was tried to describe the frame of this contribution via the analysis of his books and articles. Mehmet İzzet tackled with the aims, subjects and methods of Sociology; he determined its objectives, designed its limitations and lastly, he proposed some thoughts about the methods that he had to follow. In order to make Sociology a useful and developing science related to society, he emphasized the significance of cooperation and specialisation through it. He put stress on the relations between individuals and society. He tried to determine the effect of individual on society and vice versa.
