In the last 5 year-period, the increase rate of using mobile phones in our country has exceeded the increase rate in the world and the rate of usage has reached a level above % 80 percentiDespite this extensiveness, this study is carried-.out by involving only the university youth as the sample mass, as general attitude towards the usage can vary. Analysis .of thç data acquired from the study exhibited that the university youth is •divided into two groups in respect of their ^attitudes towards the usage of mobile phones. The groups''distribution according to socio-demographic variables and whether these variables make difference between the groups are researched. The other two subjects researched in the study are the identified groups' distribution in terms of the usage of mobile phones and the telephone functions they use, and determining whether these are effective for the difference between groups. At the end of the analyses, it is ascertained that the ones who are more addicted are generally the ones who use prepaid lines, are between the ages of 20-22, do not use WAP function, but use game function, transfer credit units, generally follow television commercials which are related to mobile phone advertisements and have relatively high brand name and operator addiction.en_US
