Üretim maliyetlerini düşürmek amacıyla AR-GE faaliyetlerinde bulunan cournot ve bertrand düopol modellerinin karşılaştırılması

Abstract

Özet: Bu çalışma genel olarak, özellikle de üretim maliyetlerini düşürmek amacıyla AR-GE (araştırma ve geliştirme) faaliyetlerinde bulunan Cournot ve Bertrand düopol modellerinin karşılaştırılması ile ilgilidir. Genel inanışın tersine Cournot modeli yalnızca miktar rekabetini değil aynı zamanda fiyat rekabetini de içermektedir. Bertrand rekabeti genellikle Cournot rekabetine göre daha etkin olmasına rağmen eksik enformasyon altında bu durumun her zaman geçerli olmadığı söylenebilir. Mevcut piyasadaki mallar ikame ise (tamamlayıcı) Bertrand fiyatları (miktarları) Cournot fiyatlarına (miktarlarına) göre daha düşüktür (yüksektir). Firmalar arasında gizli anlaşmaların Bertrand rekabetinde daha fazla olduğu görülmektedir. AR-GE faaliyetleri göz önüne alındığında bu iki modelin hangisinin daha etkin olduğu AR-GE faaliyetlerinin verimliğine, AR-GE taşmalarına, ürünlerin çeşidine ve ikame edilebilirlik derecesine bağlı olarak değişiklik göstermektedir.

Abstract: This paper is intended to compare the the R&D activities of Cournot and Bertrand models of duopoly. Especially, the R&D efforts of models markets are compared in terms of reducing production cost. In contrary to common belief, Cournot model does not only include quantity competition, but also price competition. Although the Bertrand competition is usually more efficient than Cournot competition, this is not always the case under incomplete information. If the goods in the current market are substitutes (complements), the prices (quantity) in Bertrand competition are lower compared to the prices (quantity) in Cournot competition. Collusive between firms are more witnessed in Bertrand competition than Cournot competition. When these two models are compared in terms of R&D activities, which one is more efficient differs depending on the productivity of R&D activities, R&D spillovers, the types of products, and the degree of substitutability of firms 'products.
