Ulusal ebelik kodları ve meslek değerleri

Abstract

Ebelikte meslek değerlerinin, etik kodların bilinmesi; ebelik bakım ve uygulamalarının daha nitelikli olmasını, ebelik mesleğinin toplumdaki statüsünün yükselmesini, ebeler arasında etik karar verme süreçlerinde yaşanan güçlüklerin ve ahlaki sıkıntının azalmasını sağlayacaktır. Özellikle yaşanan ahlaksal boyut profesyonellerin işten ayrılma, iş memnuniyetsizliği ve tükenmişlik nedeni de olabildiğinden, meslek değerleri, kodlar ve etik değerlerin oluşturulması ebelik mesleğinin önceliklerinden birisidir. Ülkemizde çoğu ebe, bağımsız rollerinden uzaklaşarak uzmanı olmadığı farklı alanlarda çalışmakta, daha çok hemşirelik işlevlerini uygular durumda bulunmaktadır. Bu nedenle, gerek ebelik mesleğini yürütenlerin, gerekse ebe adaylarının ulusal ebelik kodlarının önemini kavraması, meslek değerlerinin farkında olması hem mesleksel gelişim ve değişim, hem de hastalara nitelikli bakım sunulması noktasında önem ve öncelik göstermektedir. Sonuç olarak; meslek değerleri ve etik kodların benimsenmesinin ebelik uygulamalarına kılavuzluk edeceği düşünülmektedir. Bu bağlamda derlemedeki amaç; ulusal ebelik kodlarının, değerlerinin, ebelikte meslek etiğinin öneminin kavranmasına yönelik bilgilenmeyi sağlamak ve Türkiye’deki gelişmeleri vurgulamaktır.

Being aware of the professional values and code of ethics in midwifery will lead to the improvement of the quality of midwifery care and practices, a rise in the status of the midwifery profession in the community and a decrease in difficulties and moral distress experienced by midwives during ethical decision-making processes. Since moral distress experienced by midwives could also be the causes of resignation from the profession, job dissatisfaction and burnout, constituting professional values, codes and ethical values is one of the priorities of the midwifery profession. A number of midwives in Turkey leave their roles in the profession and take the role of a nurse or work in other areas which they are not specialized in. Therefore, it is important that both those who currently carry out the midwifery profession and those who will become the members of the midwifery profession in the future should understand the importance of national codes of midwifery and should be aware of their professional values if they are to improve the developments and changes in their profession and if they are to provide quality care for their patients. As a result, the adoption of professional values and codes of ethics is expected to guide practices in midwifery. The purpose of this article is to help understand the importance of national and international codes and values of midwifery, provide information necessary to appreciate professional ethics in midwifery and to point out the developments in Turkey.
