2010-2011 Sezonunda spor-toto süper lige çıkan Bank Asya takımlarının logit modelile incelenmesi

Abstract

Günümüz futbolunun temel amacı gol atmaktır. Bunun dışındaki olay ve beceriler ise ikincildir. Dolayısıyla futbol oyununda her davranış gol atmak ve gol yememek amacına yöneliktir. Çalışma kapsamında Bank Asya Ligi takımlarının belirli değişkenlere göre analizi Logit model ile yapılmıştır. Bağımlı değişken, özünde iki değer alabiliyorsa yani bir özelliğin varlığı ya da yokluğu söz konusu ise bu durumda bağımlı kukla değişkenler söz konusudur. İstatistiksel çalışmalarla ikili değerler alan veya aldığı düşünülen değişkenler ile yapılan analizlerde sıkça kullanılan Logit modeller gerçeğe yakın başarılı sonuçlar verebilmektedirler. Bu çalışmada 2010-2011 sezonunda Spor Toto Süper Ligi'ne çıkan üç profesyonel futbol takımının gol yeme durumlarına göre seçilmiş bazı değişkenlerin (“atılan gol sayısı”, “görülen sarı kart sayısı”, “görülen kırmızı kart sayısı”, “alınan puan” ve “ilk 15 dakikada atılan gol sayısı”) modele katkıları incelenmiştir. Böylece, takım başarılarının bazı değişkenlere göre önceden hem iç saha hem de deplasman olarak ayrı ayrı istatistiksel olarak hesaplanabileceği gösterilmiştir. Araştırma, Lig maratonu içerisinde yer alan takımların bazı özelliklerinin önceden gözlenerek kayıt altına alınmasının onların başarı sıralamasının tahmininde etkili bir gösterge sayılabileceğini ortaya çıkarmıştır. Nitekim Spor Toto Süper Ligi’ne terfi eden takımların; 32 maçlık süreç sonunda puan değerlerinin yüksekliği yanında, belirli parametreler bakımından da üst sıralarda ve diğer takımlara göre avantajlı durumda oldukları belirlenmiştir. Logit model ile yapılan bu çalışma, ikili değerler alan değişkenli modellerin de spor istatistiklerinde başarılı bir şekilde uygulanabileceğini göstermektedir. Bu sebeple antrenörlerin oyun stratejilerini inşa ederlerken model çözümlemelerine dikkat etmeleri başarı yönündeki beklentilerinin karşılanmasını sağlayabilir.

The primary aim of football is to score goal. Any event or skill other than this is secondary. Thus, in a football game every move is about scoring goal and not conceding a goal. Within this study, Bank Asya League teams were analyzed in terms of some variables through Logit model. If a dependent variable can have two values- that is, if a characteristic is present or absent- then we can talk about dependent dummy variables. Logit models, used frequently in analysis of variables which can take two values, can produce real-like successful results. This study investigates the contributions of some chosen variables (the number of goals scored, the number of yellow cards, the number of red cards, points earned, the number of goals scored in the first 15 minutes) to the model. The variables were chosen depending on the goal conceding status of three professional football teams that rose to the Spor Toto Super League in 2010-2011 season. Consequently, the study shows that the success of teams can be estimated statistically in terms of some variables both at home and away. The study has shown that investigating some features of teams and recording these can be considered as an effective indicator in estimating the teams’ success rank. Hence, it has been determined that the teams which rose to the first league both had high points and ranked high in terms of specific parameters and thus were advantageous at the end of 32 matches. This study conducted through Logit model shows that models with two value variables can be successfully applied to sports statistics. Thus, paying attention to model analysis can help coaches to reach success while determining game strategies.
