ORTA OKULLARDA OKUTULAN SEÇMELİ DERSLERİN VERİMLİLİĞİNE İLİŞKİN ÖĞRETMEN GÖRÜŞLERİ

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı 4+4+4 eğitim uygulamasının ortaokul kademesinde okutulan Seçmeli derslerin uygulanmasına ve işlevselliğine ilişkin öğretmen görüşlerini belirlemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Sivas il merkezinde seçmeli dersleri okutan öğretmenlerden basit seçkisiz örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenen 25 öğretmenle yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda seçmeli derslerin veli ve öğrencilerin görüşüne göre belirlendiği, ders seçme sürecinde öğrencinin ilgi ve yeteneklerinin göz önünde bulundurulduğu, okullarda seçmeli derslerin seçim işleminden önce uygulama hakkında öğrenci ve velilere yönelik bilgilendirme yapıldığı anlaşılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğretmenler, seçmeli dersler için yeterli sayıda ve nitelikte öğretmen olduğunu, bu derslerde kullanılacak yeterli kitap ve materyal bulunmadığını düşünmekte, seçmeli derslerin saati ve çeşidini yeterli görmektedirler. Görüşme yapılan öğretmenlere göre, öğrencilerin seçmeli derslere yönelik motivasyonları olumludur ancak öğrenciler zorunlu dersleri daha çok önemsemektedirler. Araştırmaya katılan öğretmenlerin çoğunluğu seçmeli derslerin faydasının olmadığını düşünmektedir. Öğretmenler seçmeli derslerde en çok karşılaştıkları sorunun teknoloji-materyal ve ders kitabı eksikliği olduğunu söylemiştir ve bu derslerin daha etkili olabilmesi için, ders kitabı hazırlanmasını, araç gereç eksikliğinin giderilmesini önermiştir

The purpose of this research is to determine the views of the teachers on the implementation and functioning of the elective courses at secondary school. For this purpose, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 25 teachers who were selected by simple unselected sampling method from the teachers who instructed the elective courses in Sivas. According to the results they were understood that elective courses were determined by parents’ and students’ opinions, when elective courses were determined students’ interests and abilities were took into consideration. Parents and student were informed about the elective courses at the beginning of the term. The teachers thought that there were sufficient number of qualified teachers for elective courses, elective course hours and types were sufficient but there were not enough books and materials for these courses. Students had positive motivations for elective courses but they were more concerned with compulsory courses. The vast majority of teachers thought that elective courses had no benefits for them. Teacher stated that the most common problem in elective courses was the lack of technology-material and textbook. Teachers recommended the preparation of course books and the elimination of equipment deficiencies for these courses to be more effective
