Otobiyografi, Kadın ve Kimlik

Abstract

Kimlik kavramı farklı disiplinlerin ilgi alanına giren bir kavramdır ve özellikle artık özneden bahsedilemeyeceği iddialarından sonra daha çok tartışılan bir kavram olmuştur. Kimlik, kişinin kendi özüne işaret eden ve kişiye has özelliklerini kapsayan bireysel kimlik ve toplumsal yaşamın kişide yol açtığı etkilerin yansıması olan toplumsal kimlik kavramları olarak iki grup altında toplanır. Freud'un 'id, ego, süper ego' kavramları üzerine oturtulan her iki kavram da kişinin sosyal ve psikolojik gelişiminin yansımalarını ifade eder. Toplumsal yaşamın normları ve sunduğu roller karşısında kişinin, birbiriyle de çelişebilen birden fazla kimliğe sahip olması, onu bireysel kimlik ile bu rol kimlikleri arasında denge kurma uğraşına sevk eder. Konuya kadın açısından bakıldığında durum şu şekilde özetlenebilir: genellikle kendini sistem tarafından dışlanmış olarak hisseden kadın, başkalarına adanmış hayatı içerisinde hem toplumsal yaşama katılma hem de kendine toplumun vermiş olduğu görevler ile bir bölünmüşlük yaşar. Tarihin ve kültürel değerler sisteminin dışarıda bıraktığı kadın, otobiyografilerle kendisini ifade ederek, sorunun bireysel bir sorun olmadığını toplumsal düzlemde ifade etmiş olmaktadır. Biyografiler ve otobiyografiler bu konuda iletişimsel boyutuyla önemli bir işlevi üstlenirken, kadınların kimlik sahibi olması bakımından da etkili bir medyaya dönüşmektedir. Bu çalışmada bu düşüncelerden hareketle kimlik ve (oto)biyografi kavramlarını inceledikten sonra, biyografik öğrenme ve kimlik arasında bir bağlantı kurmaya çalışılmaktadır

The concept of identity is encompassed in diverse disciplines and has become a more controversial notion especially after the postmodernist declaration of the disappearance of the subject. Identity is handled in two ways as individual and societal concepts, the former of which reflects the person and defines his or her invariable personal traits, the latter of which is the total reflections of the impacts of social life on the individual. These two concepts based on Freud’s ‘id, ego’ and ‘superego’ are both reflective of one’s social and psychological development. In the face of social norms, one’s possession of contradicting multiple identities leads one to strike a balance between the individual identity and these roles. When viewed from the viewpoint of feminism, the case can be said succinctly as follows: Having the sensation of being displaced by the system, woman suffers from a split within herself due to firstly her life devoted to the others and secondly, one and at the same time, her desires to participate in social life and to perform her duties attributed to her by the society. Having been excluded by history and the system of cultural values woman expresses herself in autobiographies and states, on the social level, that the problem is not a personal one. Biographies and autobiographies with their communicative dimension play a significant role in this matter. Taking these ideas as a point of departure, this study attempts to make a connection between biographical learning and identity, following the explorations of the concepts of identity and (auto)biography
