Formation of boroncarbur-ceramic powder mixture and its characteristics [Borkarbürün seramik tozu ile şekillendirilmesi ve karakterizasyonu]
Abstract
In order to extend the life span of the elements of machines, the methods, which will reduce wearing and deformation, are investigated. Hence the need for composite materials production techniques has arisen. The objective of this study is to use single technologies for shaping boroncarbür, which has excellent physical characteristic, instead of using expensive techniques such as hot press, vacuum furnace arc furnace. This method will result in cost reduction and extensive usage of boroncarbur. Different composition of boroncarbür and ceramic powder were pressed and sintered. After sintering, density and hardness of new material were measured, microstructures of it are investigated with the help of SEM, elements and compositions of elements were analyzed by means of EDX and XRD.
