The determination of the discharge distance after discharges done with different kinds of shotguns and cartridges [Cesitli av tufegi ve fisekleriyle yapilan atislarda atis mesafesinin belirlenmesi]

Abstract

In this study, we examined the discharge according to gunshot residues seen at the target after discharges done with shotguns in criminal events, in Konya-Beysehir-Uzumlu Shotgun Factory. For this purpose, we prepared a target with 1 m. square from American coat. Then with six type shotguns and with four type pellets in fixed distances, discharges were performed. At the discharges, it was seen that, while central entrance hole was made by the discharges from 2-6 m. distance, satellite pellet entrance holes were made from 1-6 m. distance and also wad entered to the target from center or nearside of the still 15 m. When the target became a human it was understood that, would enter to the body as the discharge would done in 2-6 m. distance and it would produce only superficial skin lesions like hyperemia, dermabrasion, if the distance was more than 6 meters.
