It was suggested that, lipid peroxidation (LP), free oxygen (O2.) radical, production and the increase of eicosanoids cause cerebral tissue injury in various pathological conditions. Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is one of these diseases. The cerebral iron ion (Fe+3) content is the important catalysor of free O2. radicals production and LP. An iron-chelator agent, deferroxamine, has a strong therapeutic potential, and the interest on this compound is increasing nowadays. The current literature about deferroxamine is reviewed in this study.en_US
