Postantibiotic effect
Abstract
The postantibiotic effect (PAE) has become an important and interesting subject over the past fifteen years. The once daily administration of aminoglycosides in an attractive concept according to PAE. On this subjects a lot of animal experiments, and clinical trials has been performed. The clinical success of once daily dosing of aminoglycosides in trials suggests that the PAE does have clinical importance. But in neutropenic and different immunocompromised individuals, this type of administration is not useful because of the loose in PAE.
