Zinc concentration in maternal blood during normal pregnancy and pregnancies with intra-uterine growth retardation
Abstract
Serum concentrations of zinc were determined in 20 non-pregnant healthy women (Group A), 78 normal pregnant women at various gestational ages (Group B), and 17 pregnant women at risk of delivering growth retarded babies (Group C). Group C measurements were made during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Comparison between Group B and Group C included only 3rd trimester pregnancies. No statistically significant differences regarding serum zinc levels were found between the 3 groups.
