Volcano tourism in Turkey

Abstract

Geotourism can be considered as a part of natural area tourism and ecotourism, but is a specialized form of tourism in that the focus of attention is the geosite (Dowling and Newsome 2006). However, one of the most important sectors of geotourism is volcano tourism (Erfurt-Cooper 2010) with many people interested in volcanic environments and therefore it is rapidly being recognised as an exciting new direction for tourism (Wartiti et al. 2007). © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
