Measuring Adsorption Behavior and Corrosion Inhibition of Trans and Cis of Di-(3-hydroxybenzaldehyde)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane
Abstract
Trans and cis of di-(3-hydroxybenzaldehyde)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane (DHD) have been investigated as inhibitors for corrosion of steel in 1 M HCl using weight loss and electrochemical techniques. Polarization curves reveal that the compounds are of mixed kind substance and inhibition efficiency can increase with increasing concentration of compounds. Electrochemical impedance studies showed that the presence of those compounds decreases the double-layer capacitance and can increase the charge transfer resistance. Further, the cis-DHD, displayed the foremost effective inhibiting characteristics for this system. The molecular structure of Schiff base inhibitors was mentioned to induce optimized structure. Quantum chemical investigation of di-(3-hydroxybenzaldehyde)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane is performed by exploitation HF with 6-31++G(d,p) basis set. © 2017, Springer International Publishing AG.
