dc.description.abstractThere are many factors affecting the quality of education during the education period. That the school exists as a living system is influenced by such varieties as student's success, school - family relationship and student's attendance. Attendance is legally accepted as an important attitude at universities. In addition, some universities have some differences in practice. This is a qualitative study aimed at determining the perceptions of absence among students in Faculty of Education at Cumhuriyet University. Phenomenology method is used in this study. In this study, maximum diversification sampling is used among purposive sampling methods. In this research, in order to fulfill the feature of maximum diversification sampling among purposive sampling methods, all students are chosen equally from all class levels. Such facts as that the students' genders are different and they are going on their education both daytime and evening education have all been taken into consideration. The data is collected using semi - structured interview in this research. Analysis of the data has been analyzed by using content analysis method. Content analysis has been handled at four phases; "Data encoding, discovery of themes, regulating codes and themes, identification and interpretation of findings".
