The role of engineering-geological conditions in foundation engineering is very important as they define the marginal conditions of the subsoil being capable of bearing a building without possible negative effects on its statics. The characteristics related to this are bearing capacity and settlement. If engineering-geological conditions are evaluated for a particular area, the best tool to represent these is the engineeringgeological zoning. The implemented study describes these in a study area located in the Karvina Region in the Czech Republic.
