dc.description.abstractbefore synthesizing MXenes a lot of two-dimensional (2D) structures were synthesized and various researches about these structures has done for years, but after 2011 that MXenes were discovered, and the number of 2D transition metal carbides and nitrides (MXenes) has progressively introduced. Those structures had applications in different fields. One field of interest is biology, and many biological applications have been suggested, such as drug delivery; in this chapter, we will explain important parameters and features in choosing components for drug delivery applications; for instance, cellular uptake, biocompatibility, and biodistribution. And focus on some MXene-based structures which are the best example of drug delivery application of MXenes introduced in different studies for instance MXene/cobalt, MXene/agarose hydrogel, and MXene/AuNRs. These structures not only have stable structures and well-synthesized methods but also have all of the crucial features (such as cellular uptake, biocompatibility, and biodistribution) for a good drug delivery component. © 2024 by Elsevier Inc.
