Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation after blunt trauma: when? how?

In patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), mechanical ventilators (MV) are still key\rdevices in the treatment. However, in cases where MV remains insufficient, extracorporeal membrane\roxygenation (ECMO) is the most important treatment modality. Venovenous extracorporeal membrane\roxygenation (VV-ECMO) was applied to a 42-year-old female patient due to ARDS developed after\ran in-car traffic accident, and it was successfully terminated.
